Trust By Ted
Why - if the vast majority of the Lazaris Material is valid and helpful - does it matter whether or
not Jach is faking it? I think there are many reasons, but a primary reason is the betrayal of Trust.
I know that I have - and I suspect many others have - placed an inordinate amount of trust in the Lazaris material. I think the material has been very cleverly designed to elicit that trust. Most of us trust our close friends and spouses. But even with the most trustworthy of friends, we recognize that they are human and therefore can make mistakes, and more importantly, they have egos, which can be sometimes go out of control. We know that their "negative ego" is extremely untrustworthy, and we know that all humans have the potential to turn responsibility over to their ego, which is one way to cause it to be "negative". Therefore, we don't trust any human being, including ourselves, absolutely.
But what if information were to become available from a being who was never human, who was never subject to the limitations and dishonesty of negative ego? Would we not put more trust in this being than we could in a human? This tactic has been used by many, citing scriptures which have allegedly been "divinely-inspired" (old-age term meaning "channeled"). But some of us who have practiced discernment know that this information has been translated from other languages. That certainly can taint the data - consider Jimmy Carter's visit to Poland, where a bargain-rate translator was used: Jimmy said, "I've always had a great affection for the Polish people". The translator said, in Polish, "I want to have sex with the Polish people". Quite a difference in sentiment, eh?
Then there is the fact that the Bible was changed at the Council of Constantinople in the sixth century. The concept of reincarnation was removed "for our own good", since we may procrastinate on our growth if knew that we could come back and try it again. So, even if the bible was initially divinely-inspired, we still take it with a grain of salt.
"Lazaris" deals with these issues by saying that Jach is an "objective, full-trance" channel. That is, he is not channeling an aspect of himself and the information is not filtered through Jach's ego. And it's coming from the "Higher Realms", so what's not to trust?
Well, for one thing, if we are to accept the notion that "Lazaris" would never lie, that they would
never say anything unless they know it's true, then we must also accept their depiction of Peny.
After seeing Peny in action, the only way to accept this notion is to deny our own intelligence,
intuition and wisdom. I have tried that - it's not a fun exercise. Yes, it's fine to question
one's interpretations, but it's unhealthy to defer to an allegedly superior entity.
Lazaris' view of Peny is not the only questionable data coming from Jach as he claims to channel
Lazaris. There is also the talk about Atlantis and Lemuria, which cannot be proved or disproved.
They even have the temerity to tell us why we chose to incarnate in our current lifetimes. "Lazaris"
says they will be waiting for us when we pass over in death. What happens when they are not there?
Trusting this stuff can be very dangerous.
The act of deferring to someone else necessarily diminishes our own Self-Trust. Which happens
to be very convenient for those who would wish to control us. Not to worry though: if you don't
trust yourself enough, Concept: Synergy has a tape for you. Somehow this tape doesn't seem to
be increasing the Self-Trust of the Forum members who deferred to Peny's interpretation of events,
rather than see for themselves what was going on. It reminds me of Monty Python's Life of Brian
where the crowd said, in unison, "we are individuals - we must think for ourselves".
Chipping away at people's Self-Trust is routine exercise within cults. Why would someone defer
to someone else if that person trusted themselves? Self-Trust is the enemy of cults. Yes, sometimes
it makes sense to defer to another, e.g. a specialist who has significantly more knowledge about
a particular topic. But even then, we may get a second opinion, or we may listen to our intuition
if it tells us the specialist is mistaken. But when information is presented as gospel, then
we think that to question it is arrogant. The word, "arrogant" is bandied about quite a bit
within the Lazaris community. Katie and I were labeled arrogant for thinking that we were the
only two - of 1,400 people in the Forum - to question Peny's lies, which are empirically
verifiable. So Self-Trust becomes "arrogance" within the cult's lexicon. Better to drink the
Kool-Aid at Guyana than have anyone think you are arrogant!
On an early tape, Discovering the Subconscious, Lazaris presents a theory of the process
of evolving consciousness. They say that this information has never been made known before, then
they quickly correct themselves, saying that they suppose one could find all this information,
but it would require reading many, many books. How many books did Jach read? If Jach presented
this information as the result of his - and maybe his associates - research, then we would look
upon it as we would any theories espoused by imperfect humans. It's very interesting, it makes
sense, it could be useful. But it's not gospel. Then he could provide a bibliography, as
etiquette dictates.
Though the Lazaris Material deals so much with the pitfalls of feeling "better-than", one of it's
main components is the notion that Friends of Lazaris are the Map-Makers, pioneering new avenues
of success and happiness. "Lazaris" even told us - after the fact - that the war in Kosovo in 1999
held a danger of escalating into a World War. But we "Map-Makers" mitigated the danger by working
our Magick. If that's not fodder for the ego, I don't know what is.
Peny, on a tape with "Lazaris", said that we as Map-Makers are setting the precedent of "going home"
for others. That if one of us can make it, then we all can. Is she suggesting that we are the first
in the history of Humankind that are going to make it? The precedent has been set many times and
recorded for the rest of us. What does this make Lazaris, our Savior? And do we now get to
be the Saviors of the poor slobs who haven't heard of Lazaris? "Negative-Ego" is having a royal
feast!
No wonder people are afraid of losing their spirituality if they question "Lazaris". By the reckoning
of the Voice that comes from Jach's mouth when he claims to be channeling Lazaris, we may all
be dead now if not for the wisdom and techniques that Lazaris has given us (with Peny's loving
permission). My God, the whole planet owes a debt of gratitude to Peny for sharing Lazaris
with us (and getting rich in the process).
Broken trust feeds cynicism. The amount and type of trust which I believe is falsely directed toward
Lazaris can be devastating when one concludes that it was misplaced. It can shake a person's
belief in Spirituality as a whole. And this, I believe is one reason that people are reluctant to
face that possibility. I had fear about this. I believe that Jach and Peny are well aware
of this base fear and use it to manipulate. Fortunately, I had a spiritual base before I discovered
"Lazaris". My conclusion that Jach is faking has not destroyed my faith in God, Metaphysics, or myself.
Those who would exploit a person's desire to grow spiritually, to have a positive impact on the planet,
and to act in a responsible manner, are the true cynics. I will not give these people the power
to turn me into a cynic. I had success using the Lazaris Material because I am powerful, because
Metaphysics is real, because God is real. The power is in me, granted by my Creator, not in the
Lazaris Material. I haven't lost one ounce of power by rejecting the Lazaris Material. I have not
lost faith in the goodness of people - in fact, it is the goodness of people that allows cults
to proliferate - they feed on it. How much more power we have when we own it for ourselves and
don't give it to those who wish to suck it from us like a parasite!
