Hi Steve, After six years, I finally quit the gym to-day! Going outdoor low tech. Naw, seriously had my roller skates revitalized for indoors and I ordered rollerblades for fresh air. Yes I want to have fun. Jade [This message has been edited by Jade (edited 03-20-2001).]

Hi Steve and Karolina,Yeah, makes my Scottish / German Blood boil too...remember that tape where L. was saying "consider the source" in a reference to listening to your bitter ole' granma about how to be happy etc. well, he put it out there that you should look at how well those prosteletizers are doing...blah blah.. But that's the way that jach**ss was ever so aptly able to distance himself from what was being discussed...he didn't say it at all did he... This is not to say I didn't listen with rapt attention when the orb was talking about specific brain chemistry, and seritonin issues and mental pethways etc. in a shame tape I believe.Cuz I thought that it was some great knowledge about our inner workings that L. could tap into...but when he said that AIDS was caused by a tweaked form of Syphillus, I recognized that from a book I'd picked up in a healthfood store... anyway...Had I listened to any info from the orb had to say about diet/excercise, I would probably have thought, as many may also do... well, jach and peny, and all those other jabba-beingsat con-sin, cannot get offa their lazy asses and put ANY of that Lazardo stuff into practise. But that is also precisely how they hide don't they, those as***oles just hide behind this etheric being s***t. and they don't have to take any responsablity for any of it..... BUT I guess alot of what you-all are actually speaking about here is also reference to stuff jachass, and peny-faye espoused while in the Forum, and that's another thing all together. That Forum should be nuked, and I would LUUUVVV to see peny-faye take the first sip of some new poison she's trying to pass off as healing... Hey peny.I found a new one for 'ya...try a little of this new ergot-fungus I just found out about it gets your digestion all in order!! tee-hee... More power to US.!! She's ripe and ready for a "cardiovascular event" if you ask me.... in fact I'd be very surprised if she has not already had one or two...does anyone know if she smokes??? cuz that would mean she may SPONTANIOUSLY INCINERATE HERSELF TRYING TO LIGHT THE NEXT CIG!!!! I AM FUll of HOPE, that she is not long for this world... the big orb, an the littler orb can spend the rest or eternity prancing around bouncing off each others bellies in the heavens away from the rest of US....oooooo....... CHOW, Audrey

Hi Audrey -- welcome on board :0)Suzanne Summers, late night infomercial Atkins Diet body beautiful poster girl -- just announced on Larry King that she has been fighting breast cancer for over a year. High fat, antibiotic/pestacide/drug concentrated animal fat, and meat?! Who knew Peny? You IMO: blithering, oxygen deprived unexercised idiot! Folks -- the POINT is to avoid simple refined carbohydrates and load up on whole, low glycemic index -- and I DON'T mean pasta -- complex carbohydrates. The brain runs on carbohydrates -- as demonstrated by Suzanne's choice of cancer therapy -- Homeopathy without the adjunct therapies that Homeopathy for cancer demands. The president of an internationl association of homeopaths was on the news this morning condemning Suzanne for presenting such a stupid, dangerous celebrity example. All of this fad Atkins Diet greed-drven, MINDLESS carbohydrate paranoia is literally killing people before our eyes. Here's an interesting one:"(The radiation from CRT computer monitors poses no health danger at all!)" Yeah. Tell that to my burning eyeballs and deeply drained energy after sitting infront of one for 20 minutes. And project that out 20 years in my health -- ! Thank GOD for tft. Steve sb6@altavista.com

Hi, folks!I stumbled upon this site and found myself quite intrigued by what I read (I'm not a former Friend of Lazaris, but was looking up the subject because of someone else who is). I must admit, I found the "teachings" regarding health/longevity particularly heinous. I wanted to add a fitness note to Steve's comments: As a fitness trainer, lo these past four-plus years, I don't recommend Soloflex, Bowflex, or similar machines. The Soloflex uses rubber bands, and the Bowflex uses bending metal pieces to provide resistance. What they have in common is that they provide uneven resistance through the range of motion for each exercise; it's easier to move the bar at the beginning than at the end. As a result, the muscle is not developed evenly and lacks balance (something I'm sure we are all seeking!). NordicTrak manufactures a machine in the same price range as Soloflex, which uses your body weight in conjunction with a pulley system to provide resistance. The resistance is, therefore, even throughout the exercise. They've made them for a number of years now, and I'm sure they can be had used. I wouldn't be surprised if there were other machines available using the same concept. Body-Solid is a Japanese manufacturer making plate-loaded home gyms; these are also decent pieces of equipment, and priced similarly to the Soloflex. Granted, nothing beats free weights, but the risk of injury for inexperienced lifters working without a spotter is much higher. Injury bad. Is a Soloflex(or Bowflex) going to hurt you? No. Would I say NEVER EVER USE ONE? No. Is using a Soloflex better than nothing? Of course. Are there similarly-priced alternatives which will provide better development? Yes.

Hi Trainer,Welcome, and thanks for stopping by. Here's a question. I have several injuries which cause me problems while working out. Would a physical therapist be a good place to go for a workout routine that wouldn't aggravate my injuries? One is a knee injury, the other is a bit more personal, so I'd rather not mention it. Thanks for any advice. I miss my workouts. Katie PS, I don't trust fitness trainers at my gym, it was because of them that I was injured in the first place.

Hi Steve, Hi Trainer,What do you guys think about the Health Rider? Covert Bailey, the Fit or Fat guy, did infomercials for it some years back, touting it as a nice safe easy machine that can exercize every muscle in your body (I think). I remember shortly after I got mine Peny posted that she had one, adding that she didn't use it nearly enough. (I suspect she used it about as much as I use mine. It does make a great place to air out sweaty clothes.) Anyway, I was proud of my purchase once I found out the Health Queen had one, too. Do you have anything good to say about it, other than it's better than nothing? Some day when I get caught up with its laundry I intend to give it another try. Susan

Interesting! I was under the impression that with the new Soloflex band system it's resistance was more even through each rep. Will look into this Nordictrack machine though -- I am a big believer in their ski machines (however NOT for upper body -- IMO: potentially shoulder *damaging* in longer workouts -- we wern't built genetically to "walk" long distances on our arms). Well -- I saw Covert's ad too. I went down to the mall and actually tried a Healthrider -- and HATED it. While it is true the thing *moves* most muscles in your body -- few are moved in their full range of motion (important for lymph cleansing / full muscle aerobic fitness. Plus -- compared to my Nordictrack -- it was very uncomfortable / boring to use -- plus I felt like crap (comparatively) after using the thing. And NOW we know -- it even helped *kill* Peny! Ah HA! Do you mean that we now have the cause of Peny's death? Toxic Healthrider Avoidance Syndrome? Katie

Thanks for your notes about the Health Rider. I, too, found it boring, but I never thought that any exercise machine could be interesting. What you say about the lymph cleansing is good to know, tho. I was surprised when, a few days after I wrote my first post about the Health Rider, I came across a printout of Peny's post (11/14/95) where she talked about it! In that post I had forgotten that she recommended one of those little trampolines "as probably the easiest and probably the most thorough way to exercise" -- working up your heart rate and massaging your lymph glands. Of course, I went out and bought one, too. Again boring, but easy, and little kids love it, so I'm not sorry I invested less than the cost of an evening tape on it. Michaell, by the way, loved the huge trampoline they had in Florida (no room for it in California). Katie, will there be time to squeeze in the tramp on your Palm Beach tour? Susan
